36 Truths

  • Sido Dekker / graphic design / Arnhem

“I researched immortality and how people can best save something of themselves for future generations. For this, I selected excerpts from my diaries from the past seven years; 36 fragments bearing a truth or moral that I would like to impart with the future. I printed those 36 fragments on little notes and put them in a bag. I cast a 20 x 20 cm block of concrete for each note, putting the note inside. The surface of each block bears a translation of the contained message in numbers. The 36 blocks will eventually be displayed in the foundations of the original Kröller-Müller museum, the construction of which ceased in 1922. The ruins can still be seen near the current museum in the Hoge Veluwe National Park.”

The Art & Design Graduation Exhibition in Arnhem city centre takes place from 1 to 5 July.
