Invaders, dynamic lighting

  • Joost Seegers / product design / Arnhem

“My lamps bulge, stretch, or change shape. Manually adjusting the light object changes the shape, but an automatic drive can result in more dynamic lighting. A lamp in motion sets a space in motion. I want to enable a more intense experience of that space. In this way, a passive spectator becomes an active participant.

More and more temporary events are taking place in vacant spaces in urban environments. My designs change the perception of those spaces through the use of light, shape, and motion. I want my lamps to incite action in people, creating new life in abandoned buildings.”

The Art & Design Graduation Exhibition in Arnhem city centre runs from 1 to 5 July.
